The Art of Analytics

There is lots of current attention focused on the math and science of analytics. Data science is seen to conquer all foes. However, approaches to innovation and improving organizational performance that focus only on science while ignoring the “art” of analytics are destined to deliver only mediocre improvements. In this talk we discuss the importance of creativity and out-of-the-box thinking when engaging in analytics. We will look at case study examples where the combination of “art” plus “science” yielded breakthrough results that would not have been possible using a purely incremental approach to data science. We will also examine novel new ways of looking for patterns and relationships in Big Data sources with advanced visualization techniques that encourage the “art” of analytics.

  • Learn about the pitfalls of an overly mechanical approach to data science.
  • Learn how to encourage breakthrough innovation by adding art into your analytics.
  • Learn about emerging technologies for visualizing Big Data sources.
